What happens on a Try Scuba / Try Dive session?

(in around 2 hours, and properly put together)

This is not a long course or a heavy theory session.

It is a well-guided introductory dive, the kind of first experience you will remember in a good way.

How it works (step by step)

 A clear, useful briefing

We cover the essentials: breathing, hand signals, equalising and how to move underwater.

The goal is simple: to make your first dive feel natural from the start.

 Equipment set up for you

We adjust the equipment with you and check that everything feels right before you get in.

Simple idea: you should feel comfortable before you even enter the water.

A gradual shore entry

We go in from the shore, nice and easy.

No jumping off a boat and no quick descents.  Your first time should be calm, just as it should be.

Real 1:1 guidance

You have one instructor with you for the whole dive, with no divided attention.

You focus on the experience; we guide you and keep things flowing.

 A beginner-friendly depth (max. 6 m)

We are not chasing depth for the sake of it.

We are aiming for a first dive that feels enjoyable, controlled and easy to take in.

A great finish (and an optional next step)

You come out of the water with the experience done and good feelings all round.

And if you feel like doing it again or learning more, we will walk you through the next step with no pressure.

You are in good hands at Dawn Dives

We are an SSI Instructor Training Center in Lanzarote, and every SSI Try Scuba session is run with clear guidance and real attention.

The experience is kept simple: clear explanations, a solid method, and no improvising on your first dive.

Before you get in the water, we check the equipment, guide you step by step, and make sure everything is understood.

Not everyone comes with the same idea in mind: first time, couple, family… So each experience is organised to fit you.

Our centre is also based inside the H10 Rubicón Horizons Collection, with our own facilities, well-maintained equipment, and a stable team that knows the area in detail.

The Team with You on Your First Dive

We all found our own way into diving, but we share the same way of doing things: calm, friendly, and very personal.

Hervé

I have been in diving for more than 36 years, and I still believe that learning well from the start makes all the difference.

Pepe

What I enjoy most is helping people leave their fears behind in the water and discover diving with confidence.

Óscar

I still get that same buzz every time I put on my wetsuit, and I love sharing that feeling with other people.

Rinus

What started as a hobby became a real passion, and I still enjoy every day I get to be in the water.

Claudia

I love bringing together the things I enjoy most: teaching, meeting people from different places, and being there when they discover diving for the first time.

This is how people describe us after diving with us

There are some things that make more sense coming from the people who have already been here.

Have a look and notice what comes up again and again: the atmosphere, the way we treat people, and how we work.

FAQs about your SSI Try Scuba Lanzarote experience

Yes. Try Scuba is the SSI name for what many people call a try dive or try scuba dive: a guided first scuba experience for beginners.

Yes. It’s exactly the same idea: a first guided scuba experience for beginners. The difference is that here the SSI version is called Try Scuba.

Yes. The explanations are simpler, the pace is gentler, and we keep close guidance throughout so it stays a positive experience.

No. This is made for beginners who have never dived before. We explain what matters and guide you through it clearly.

You do not need to be an expert swimmer, but you should feel comfortable in the water. If you are unsure, message us before booking and we will talk it through with you.

That is completely normal on a first dive. We go down slowly, practise the basics first, and if you need to stop or come up a little, that is fine. No pressure at all.

This is the question everyone asks. We teach you how to equalise and we descend gradually. If you need more time, we take more time.

Glasses: they cannot be worn inside the mask. If your prescription is strong, let us know and we will suggest the best option.

Contact lenses: yes, no problem.

As a general rule, it is best to leave a gap of 12 hours before flying after diving. If you tell us when you are flying, we will give you the right guidance for your plan.

No problem. You set the pace. If you want to stop early, we simply adapt the experience.

If you are congested, it is usually not a good idea because of ear comfort and safety. Message us first and we will help you work it out.

It depends on your situation. The best thing is to check it with the medical questionnaire first and speak to us before booking.
